Lesley has worked in Primary Care for over 30 years, initially as a District Nurse and Team Leader before heading out to West Africa for 7 years to work for the Foreign Office caring for the UK Diplomats in Nigeria and Ghana. On returning to Oxford she has worked as a Nurse Practitioner setting up Minor Illness Clinics in General Practice. Lesley has over 15 years experience working in an Advanced Nurse Practitioner role having completed the RCN Credentialing for Advanced Nurse Practitioners. The role has included holding a list of patients, undertaking the Duty Dr role in General Practice, managing minor illness clinics within a diverse population and teaching to all practitioners within General Practice. Lesley has completed the Advanced Physical Assessment of the Adult course and holds a PGCE in Education and holds the NMC Teacher qualification. She has been a non-medical prescriber since 2012. Her initial minor illness training was in Paediatric Minor Illness many years ago, when she also held the EPLAS qualification. Lesley is committed to nurse training and education. Previous roles have included Nurse Training and Career Development Lead for the BOB Primary Care Programme Delivery Team and Clinical Lead for the General Practice Fellowship, GPN and AHP Preceptorship Programme and the nationally run CARE Programme..
In October 2022, Lesley was awarded the Queen’s Nurse title by the Queen's Nursing Institute in recognition of commitment to high standards of patient care and continually improving practice.
In March 2023, Lesley embarked on a new venture setting up Aspire Clinical Training as a sole trader. The drive for this was to deliver practical evidence based minor illness and injury programmes accessible to all practitioners working in Primary Care, Urgent Care Hubs and Minor Illness and Injury Centres,
Jo qualified as a Dr amid the first wave of the Covid-19 pandemic lockdown in 2020. Over the past 5 years she has worked on a variety of wards and built up a strong ethos around the importance of teaching, education, and communication, facilitating learning for medical students, nurses, and other medical colleagues. Jo has a strong interest in Anaesthetics and Critical Care Medicine and is currently a second year anaesthetics specialty trainee at the Bedfordshire Hospitals. Jo received a Highly Commended award from Doctors for the NHS, for an essay submission entitled ‘Lessons we have learnt from the COVID-19 Pandemic’, highlighting the importance of communication with patients and families. Jo has previously worked as a Paediatric Teaching Fellow and she co- developed the Paediatric Minor Illness Course. Jo holds the ATLS and EPALS qualifications and lectures on the Paediatric Minor Illness: Assessment and Management in Primary Care course and the Theory and Practice of Minor Illness Management in Primary Care course
Lizzie qualified in 2021 from Newcastle University. She has completed placements in General Practice, Care of the Elderly, Surgery and a number of other specialist areas.
Lizzie is currently a Paediatric Specialty Trainee at the Great North Children's Hospital in Newcastle and has completed placements in General Paediatrics, Paediatric Cardiology and Paediatric Renal Medicine.
Nick qualified from Newcastle University in 2020 with a MBBS and Masters in Medical Education. He has undertaken placements in General Practice, Psychiatry, Respiratory, Orthopaedics, ED and general surgery.
Nick is currently a second year surgical trainee with a focus on Urology..
As a keen runner and cyclist he has a personal interest in Sports Medicine and co-developed the Minor Injuries course.
Sam qualified in 2019 from Newcastle University. Sam has completed placements ED, psychiatry, respiratory, orthopaedics, General Surgery and General Practice. Sam holds a Masters in Medical Education with distinction. This year Sam became a GP trainee working in London, he has an interest in Lifestyle Medicine and enabling the population to live longer lives.
